The district properties allow you to change the name, ID, assigned sales district manager, and assigned region all from one easy to use view. The ability to create districts and regions is available only to AlignMix Pro users. AlignMix pro users are able to create three levels of hierarchy. By default, you have territories assigned to districts and districts assigned to regions. The terms for each of these levels can be changed to match your organization by clicking on the AlignMix options.

To access the district properties, you first need to have an AlignMix file open and have territories assigned to districts. If you do not have any sales districts created, you will not be able to see a district map. You can learn how to create district assignments by click here. To open up the district map view you simply click the plus sign to open a new tab and then select district map. By default, you will see a red number appear in the center of every district. This is the span of control (the total number of sales territories assigned to each district). You can change the label to show the district name by clicking on configure layers and then changing the label for the district.

The next step to access the district properties is to use the radial tool or to hold ctrl on the keyboard and click on the district (this will bypass the radial tool and take you directly to the district properties). To access the radial tool, you simply right click on the district. This is the same exact way that you access the territory properties and the region properties.

The district property window will appear and from here you are able to change the district ID and name. No two districts can share the same district ID. AlignMix will not allow that. Each ID needs to be unique. The name can be the same. You can also change the ID and name of each district by using the district table view. You can also assign a different sales district manager to this district by clicking on the first drop-down menu. If you do not see any names appear that means that you have not assigned the role of district manager to any sales rep. This is done during the sales personnel import or by assigned the role in the edit sales rep tool. You can also create a new district manager by clicking on the plus button next to the drop down menu. Here you will be able to type in the name and home zip code of the new district manager. The second drop-down allows you to assign the district to a region. If nothing appears in the drop-down that means that regions have not yet been created. To learn how to assign districts to regions you can click here. The drop-down will show all the regions that have been created in this file. You can also click the plus button on the right of the drop-down to create a brand-new region assignment for this district.

Below the drop-downs you will see two boxes for colors. The one on the left allows you to change the color of the district. The color button to the right changes the color of the lock that appears on the district when you lock the districts and territories. You can also lock the entire district by clicking the check box. This will lock every sales territory that is assigned to this one district. Sales territories that are locked prevent any changes to zip codes and accounts from happening to that locked territory. There is one final field that says “label in part” by default the software will show the labels in the center of the largest mass of the district. If you do not see a label that means the label could be hovering over one of the islands or Alaska. You can click on “set clicked” and the label will be shifted to appear in the center of the mass that you initially right clicked on.

The bottom portion of the district properties will show you a count of all the account segments that are assigned to the territories that are assigned to this district. Above the segment count you will see a total sum of the data sets that are assigned to each account and territory. This data is summed up to the district level. You can see a similar total view in the district table view.
