How do I download the free version of AlignMix?

For your free version of AlignMix simply click the download button on the home menu. Or you can click here to go there directly fro this page.

What’s the difference between the Free and Pro version of AlignMix?

The Standard Version of AlignMix (free version) has all the tools and features of the Pro version just with some limited functionality. A breakdown of the differences can be found on the AlignMix pricing page.

Is it easy?

Yes, its really really really easy. We have even made videos to help you step by step from start to finish. Click here to go to the how to page.

What Data do I need?

If you have account data, then great! That’s basically all you need. You will need account names and address’ including zip codes. If you have current territory assignments and sales rep assignments then you can import those also.

Are there any additional costs?

The Free version of AlignMix is completely free. The only additional costs come if you want to buy additional maps (i.e. international maps) or demographic data.  The Professional version (Annual License) provides additional functionality and is licensed on a per-user-per-year basis. This covers upgrades to the application and underlying zip code data

What kind of computer do I need to run AlignMix?

Unfortunately AlignMix is not currently available for the Mac.

Is there a Help File?

The help-file can be accessed by pressing “F1” from within AlignMix. Alternatively you can access the online version at https://www.alignmix.com/manual/

Is the AlignMix output data compatible with any CRM systems?

Currently we only provide one type of alignment data output. If you provide us with a format that your CRM needs the data in, then we can create an output option that works for you.

Where do I ask questions or give suggestions on features?

If you have any issues with the software please let us know right away. You can click here to send us a direct email or click the contact us link on the home menu. IF you have suggestions regarding new features or tools please let us know. Use this link to send us an email. If we like your idea we will extend your license for a few more months as a thank you.

What is the Difference Between Account Data and Zip Code Data?

Zip Code data is data that is linked to a single zip code. This could be demographic data (population per zip, average income per zip, etc).

Account Data is data that is linked to a sales account. This data is only linked to a account and not a zip code. This means that just because a account is located in a territory it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is also assigned to this same territory.

Setting Up AlignMix

How do I register my version of AlignMix?

Once you have downloaded the file and launched the application you’ll see a pop up with a code. Simply click the button that says “register” underneath this code to send the activation to our servers. Once we confirm that your email is real we will automatically activate your copy of the software.

Where do I get an activation code?

When you load the AlignMix software the first time you will see a pop up asking for an activation code. You will also have a machine ID displayed in this same pop up. Simply click the Email button to send this information to us and then we will send you an activation key within 24 hours.

Why do I need an Activation Code?

You need to activate the software so that we make sure that the software is used by an actual person and not by a bot. Also, we are required to know who is using our software due to certain components that are licensed for the software.

How long is my AlignMix license valid for?

Each activation key is valid for one full year. There are times after major windows updates where you will have to request a new code. These are rare. But they do happen. Just email us the new machine ID and we will send over an updated activation code.

How do I change the base geography?

To change the base geography of your sales territory file you will need to start a new AlignMix file. Click on file, and then click on new. Here you can select which country and which base geography you wish to use for your territory alignment.

How do I select a different country?

In AlignMix you can only create sales territories in one country at a time. To select a different country (visit the international page for international maps) click on file. Start new project. And select the country you are looking for. If you would like additional countries they may be available for an additional licensing fee.

How do I import county data?

In order to import county based sales territory data you first need to change the base geography to US Counties. Then in your data set you need to make sure you have FIPS codes for your data. Information about FIPS codes can be found here:

Can I hide other countries from being displayed on my map?

Yes. In the configure layers options you can turn on and off the world layer. This will allow you to view your sales territories without showing neighboring countries.

How do I Update AlignMix?

We decided to not place any update “nag” screens into AlignMix. Therefore we recommend checking for updates via the AlignMix software every few weeks. If there is a major update then we will email everyone to notify them that they need to go ahead and update the software.

Can I Remove the World Map Layer?

Yes! Yes you can. Simply click on Configure layers. Then un-check the box in the bottom left that says “world”

Using AlignMix

How do I add a label to the sales territories?

You can create a sales territory label out of any data set that you have imported into AlignMix. First click on Configure layers. Select territories from the left side of the pop up. Now click on the “plus”button to create a new sales territory label.

How to display sales account labels?

To toggle on the account names you first click on “view” then toggle on the account name button. You can also further customize the labels via the configure layers tool.

How do I customize the way my data is displayed?

To add a different prefix, suffix, or currency symbol you first need to click on Data Definition. Then select the data set you would like to customize and then make your changes and click ok.

How to Un-assign Zip Codes?

If you have accidentally added to many sales accounts or zip codes to your newly designed sales territories and don’t want to use the undo feature. Then, you can easily un-assign zip codes by using the touch align tool and click the right button instead of the left. You can also lasso the areas you wish to un-assign and then select un-assign zips and accounts.

Why do all my Accounts have the same icon?

This may be caused during the import process. To fix this make sure your data file has a column that represents the account segmentation that you use for your company. Then during the import process make sure to drag that data column to where it says segmentation. This will allow the software to import your accounts into account segments.

Can I delete data that I imported into AlignMix?

Yes! Of course! To delete data click on Data definition and then select the data set you would like to delete and then click on the delete button.

How do I prevent changes from being made to a sales territory?

One of the best ways to prevent changes in sales territories is to use the Lock tool. This will lock the territory and prevent any changes from being made. To lock a sales territory simply right click on a sales territory. Then click on Lock.

How do I create sales territories with counties?

AlignMix defaults to Zip Code based sales territories. To change the base geography to FIPS (county) you first need to click on file, then click on new project. From this dropdown menu you can select a different base geography.

How do I keep sales territories within state boundaries?

To keep your sales territories within state borders simply click and hold ctrl on your keyboard while using any of the alignment tools.

How do I delete Sales Reps?

To delete sales reps click on edit sales reps. And then select the sales rep you wish to delete, and click delete.

Can I make the icons bigger?

Yes! To make you sales accounts larger all you need to do is adjust the size and zoom levels. First open up configure layers. Select the account segment you would like to customize. Now adjust the min/max icon size and also adjust the zoom level for the icons. The first tick mark represents at what zoom level the icon will appear. The second tick mark represents at what zoom level the icon will reach max size.

How do I rename Account Segments?

To rename account segments you first need to click on configure layers. Select the account you want to rename and then click on the rename button. Now, type in the new account segment name. Click ok to finalize the change.

How Do I Customize the Account Legend?

If you have multiple account segments imported into AlignMix (Pro Version only) then the software will automatically try to fit them all into the legend so that you can see all the account types at once. If you want to customize that legend even further you can do so by clicking on “configure layers’ and then selecting legend at the bottom left.

Exporting Data

How do I export my maps and data?

So you have completed creating your new sales territory design. What now? Well, now you need to share this data. To export your sales territories click on file, and then on export. Now you can either Export to Excel, or do a batch export (Batch export only available in AlignMix Pro). Now name your file and click save.

Can I Copy Data From AlignMix to my Clipboard?

Yes. First, lasso the area you want to copy to your clipboard. Then click next in the pop up. You will now see a “copy” button at the bottom of that same pop up. Click that and all the data you selected will now be in your PC’s clipboard.
