Data Definition is one of the many tools you can use in AlignMix. It lets users manage previously imported data in your file by allowing to you to make changes in their Scope and Format.
In the home screen, activate (1) Tools at the top menu and select (2) Data Definition.
Select Data Definition (2) from the Home (1) menu.
(1) In this window, you will see the data components that were previously imported to your file in the left-hand side (In this example: Calls, Sales, Potential Value, and Index102). You can add, delete, rename and re-arrange the list through the (2) control panel at the bottom-left portion of the window.
Remember that adding new data components entails going through the import process once again (for more on this please refer to Chapter 1: The Data Import Process ).
For this example, we have selected Calls. Choose one and proceed to the next step.
Under (1) Scope you can edit the data being used by the component you selected in the previous step. Here, you have three choices: Account/Customer Data, Zip-code Data, and Both Account & Zip-code Data.
Bear in mind, your selection will depend on preference and the component you selected in the previous step. Selection is made on a case-to-case basis.
Once you’re finished, proceed to the next step.
Under (1) Format, you can edit a wide range of items from representations to numerical values. Again, choices depend on preference and the data component being edited.
For instance, Calls will be typically measured in Numeric value while Sales and Potential Value will probably be better suited in US Dollars.
Once you’ve made your selections, click on (2) OK to finalize them.
Using Data Definition is that simple! Make sure to set your preferences in all data components using this same process. For more on AlignMix tools and features, please continue reading this chapter.
