Now that you know what criteria you will be using to create and balance your territories we can begin.
In the above screen shot you'll see the orange territory has a high index and the purple territory it its right is well bellow the average of 1000. We will use the lasso select tool to balance these two territories. First select the Lasso select tool in the top left of the AlignMix application.
To balance the territories using the Lasso Select tool simply click on the territory you wish to add zip codes to and hold down the left button on the mouse. Then while holding the button down start to lasso the areas you want to include in the Territory. The areas that are being lassoed will be highlighted by a red border and inside of this lassoed area you will see the index of that area. As you continue to add zip codes using the Lasso Select tool you'll see this index get larger. When you have added enough index points just let go and you'll get a pop up.
The pop up will show a summary screen of what you have selected with the Lasso Tool. You'll see the total calls, Sales, Potential Value and Index under the Data Section. You'll also see what territories are being effected, and a count of the customer segments in the lassoed area. Once you review this screen you can click next.
In this next screen you must select what action to perform for the area you have lassoed. You can either create a brand new territory, assign the lassoed area to a current territory (the first one on the drop down menu will be the territory you had clicked when you started the lasso process), or you can un-assign the zip codes and accounts. For this example we will select "Assign to Existing Territory (1) and choose the purple territory which is territory 100 (2) and then click next (3)
When you click next in the previous step you are finalizing the lasso and assigning those lassoed zip codes and accounts to the purple territory.
As you can see in the above image. You have successfully balanced the two territories.
