You should have at least your zip code data and account data imported before creating new territories. In this section of the manual you will learn how to create territories for accounts from scratch. This means that these territories were never aligned to a single territory before.
In The above screen shot you'll notice that there are no territories yet. The only data that has been imported is account and zip data.
Before you being, make sure you set your index as a visible label. For more information on how to do that please read Setting the Index as a Label
Before you begin make sure you have Selected the Touch Align Tool(1). Next select the Alignment scope. In this example we are aligning both Zip-codes and accounts with the touch align tool (2). If you wanted to only align zip codes or just accounts with overrides this is where you can make those selections.
Using the Touch Align Tool just click and hold down the left mouse button and start to color the areas you want to be a territory (1). In the above image you'll see that we started at the top of Maine and are working down. The Software will automatically name each territory for you (2), you can rename each territory to your liking, simply visit Right Click Options to learn how to do that. The Index will adjust and increase as you add more zip codes(3)
The Average index should be around 1000. As you can see in the above image we have managed to make territory 1 with an index of 1042. That's almost perfect.
You can now continue to make more territories the same way you just made this first one.
