Sharing Maps and Data
Sharing sales territory maps and data after you have completed a sales territory redesign project is extremely important to the majority of AlignMix users. Sales reps, district managers and region managers may want to preview what sales territories look like before going live and confirm if certain accounts are assigned to the correct sales territory. If these people do not have access to AlignMix then you will need to export your data and share maps via a MS Excel file with them.
There are several ways to export your sales territory mapping data. You can also export data by itself at the sales territory level or for every sales territory at the same time.
Export to Excel
The export to MS Excel feature is available in the Free and Pro version of AlignMix. This export is essentially a data dump of all the data that is found in your AlignMix file.
You can choose to export:
- Region Assignments (Only in Pro version)
- District Assignments (Only in Pro Version)
- Territory Data
- Zip Code to Territory Assignment
- Zip Code Ranges
- Sales Accounts
- Personnel Roster

Region Assignments (Pro Version)
Selecting the region assignments will create an excel tab that shows a table with every region and the data summed up to the region level. In this example regions are the second level of hierarchy. Territories are assigned to districts and districts are assigned to regions. This option is only available if you are using the Pro version of AlignMix.
District Assignments (Pro Version)
Selecting the district assignments will create an excel tab that shows a table with every district and the data summed up to the district level. In this example districts are the first level of hierarchy. Territories are assigned to districts and districts are assigned to regions. This option is only available if you are using the Pro version of AlignMix.
Sales Territory Data
The territory data export will export the territory table that you are able to see in the AlignMix software. All of the data that exists in the file will be exported and summed up to the territory level. This export will also show the assigned sales rep and the assigned district (first level of hierarchy)
Zip Code to Territory Assignment
The zip to territory export will give you a list of every zip code and the assigned sales territory. This export is also know as the Zip to Terr export. Many users use this export to update their CRM systems with the most recent sales territory designs.
Zip Code Ranges
The Zip Code Ranges selection will export a range of zip codes with their sales territory, district, region and sales rep assignments.
Sales Accounts
The sales account export will export every piece of account data that was imported into AlignMix. Any sales territory, sales rep, district and region assignments will also be shown in this export. If sales account overrides were created then this too will be shown in this export. This export can be used to be pulled into most CRM systems to assign the correct sales account to sales rep assignments.
Personnel Roster
The personnel roster export will show what sales reps are assigned to what sales territory, district and region. If you imported any additional sales rep information, then that too will be exported during this export.
Batch Export (Only Pro Version)
The batch export tool will allow you to export a single excel file and image file for every sales territory that you have created (if territory is hidden it will not export). you can choose several options when using the batch export.
The Batch Export can export:
- Export District Maps
- Territory Maps
- Excel Reports
- Detailed Territory Map
- Zip Codes
- Sales Accounts

District Maps
Selecting District maps will create district maps that show every sales territory that is assigned to each sales district. You can also choose to have all the sales territories saved into district folders.
Territory Maps
Selecting territory maps for the batch export will create a separate image file for every sales territory that is currently displayed on the map.
Excel Report
Selecting the Excel export will create a separate excel file for every sales territory. Within each Excel workbook you can have a sales territory map embedded into the file, a list of zip codes assigned to the sales territory, and also a list of accounts that are assigned to the sales territory.
Google KML Export (Only Pro Version)
This export can be used to import your sales territory shapes into other pieces of software like Google Maps, Google Earth, or any other software that supports KMl files. The major benefit of using this export is that you can overlay your sales territories on a google map that shows terrain, roads, landmarks and then share this map via a private link. You can also display sales accounts and also data sets linked to a sales territory. This can all be customized during the export process.
The KML export allows you to export:
- Sales Territory Boundaries
- District Boundaries
- Region Boundaries
- Sales Accounts
- Sales Reps.

Sales Territory Boundaries
Exporting the sales territory boundaries will allow you to overlay all of your sales territories onto a google map. Each sales territory will appear as a similar color that it has in the AlignMix software. When you import the KML file into a google map the sales territories will be placed on top of the google maps. The terrain, roads, and geography will be seen with the sales territory shapes overlayed on top of the map.
District Boundaries
Exporting the District boundaries will allow you to show the districts on the google map. District and territory boundaries can both be imported into a google mymap. You can then toggle them on and off from view. The map will display all the terrain, roads and everything else that google maps is known for just now your sales districts will appear on top of the map.
Region Boundaries
Region boundaries operate the same way as district boundaries. You can import sales territory, districts, and regions into the same google mymap and then choose which layers to display.
Sales Accounts
If you have sales accounts segmented then you will be able to export a separate kml file for each type of segment. You will then be able to import each type of account individually into a google my map. after you import each account segment you can then toggle on/off the segments from view. The biggest benefit of using the kml functions is that you can have sales territories and accounts appear on the google map and then you can share the map via a private link to others that need to see the map.
Sales Reps
If you have sales reps imported into your AlignMix file then you can do the sales reps kml export. Then when you import this file into the google mymap you will be able to see the location of all of your sales reps. The sales reps will even be colored in to match the color of the sales territory that they are currently assigned to. You can export and then import each one of these kml files into the same google mymap.
