Updating Account Data

2017-09-20T11:46:30+00:00

When designing sales territories you typically have several data sets that you consider for each sales territory. There are times where you will find that you need to update the data that is in your current sales territory design. There are a few ways to run this type of update. If you imported sales account account data with an Account ID then you can easily add or update the account data via the import process. If you did not import sales account data with an Account ID then you will have to first delete your sales accounts and data and then re-import the new data. This video above shows how to update and overwrite data that was imported with an Account ID.

Importing sales territories in AlignMix is very easy. All you need is an excel file that has one column of zip codes and a second column with the corresponding assigned sales territory. This type of data can be exported from most sales mapping services/packages and even some CRM dashboards. To import this data (this data can be called “Zip to Terr”) first open AlignMix. Click on Import. Then select the data file to import. Now all You will have to do is, drag the first column (Zip codes) to the corresponding location on the right side. Next, you import the second data column (Sales territory) to either sales territory name or sales territory ID. Click Next. And then Next again. You will see a load screen that shows the progress of the sales territory data being imported. When this is finished you will see all of your sales territories displayed on the map. If you do not have this type of data and are looking to create sales territories from scratch then this video is for you: Creating Sales Territories

Assigning Only Accounts to Sales Territories

In AlignMix you are not limited to just reassigning zip codes or counties and accounts at the same time. You can also re-assign sales accounts without moving territory boundaries. Some organizations will call these types of accounts “special ownership” , “Account Overrides’ or “Key Accounts”. These terms will vary from company to company. In order to just assign these special sales accounts you just have to change the alignment scope to “only accounts” and then using the lasso tool you will be able to easily assign accounts without reassigning zip codes.
